Biographical / Historical
The Business Division was established in 1971 and included Accounting Business Agriculture, Data Processing, Secretarial Science, and Ag-Business. Parkland switched from Divisions to Departments in the academic year 1988-1989, when the department was named Business and Agri-Industry.
As of 2013, the Department included the following subjects: Accounting, Agri-Business, Agriculture Business (Applied Agronomy, Equine Management, Grain Merchandising and Management, Management, Precision Ag Technology); Agriculture Business (Entrepreneur Basics, Entrepreneurship, International Business Management, Management Marketing); Business Administration, Customized Career Preparation; Geographic Information Systems; Horticulture (Floral Design, Landscape Design, Construction and Management); and Hospitality Industry (Culinary Arts Management, Foodservice, Foodservice Assistant, Hotel/Motel Management, Restaurant Management).
Beginning July 1, 2016, The Department of Business and Ag-Industry was absorbed into two other departments. Computer Science and Information Technologies took business classes and was renamed Business, Computer Science and Technologies. Engineering Science picked up Agri-Industries, and was renamed Agriculture, Engineering Science, and Technologies.
